National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

There is a saying, “what is hidden comes to light”.

An uncontrolled person’s actions are like a hurricane. Anything that crosses its path is in danger while we wait until it slows down. Survivors pick up pieces long after a violent person leaves, like a hurricane.

The difference is that a hurricane does not have a mind, we do. Does a storm in our mind have the ability to control itself before acting on it? In short, yes.

As mentioned in When The Going Gets Tough, life is simply not the same. A lot has changed in 100 years.

How to Deal with Abusive people?

1. Be particular of the people you keep. Cut them off when you see they have bad intentions towards you. It starts subtle, but escalates overtime. You will be mistreated until you leave. Additionally, they damage every relationship around you. Often times it happens right in front of us.

Gaslighting : An emotional abuse to burn your sanity

2. Abusive people bank on your lack of knowledge about who they are. Until you realize what you are dealing with, they continue to hurt you. You may not understand why things are not working out in your life. While you are happy without hurting others they are not happy unless they hurt others. Your happiness threatens a bully.

Consequently, when you give them no attention, they lose their minds. Abusive people need to sit with their own minds and take responsibility for what they are. They need time alone to reflect, which is something none of them are willing to do.

3. Negative people are everywhere and kind people struggle to get away from them. Therefore be observant of the jealous, envious and competitive ones, especially when there is no competition going on. Be on the watch for anyone coming at you with an agenda. They see you as a project and object. In their minds you are something to conquer.

It is interesting to note that September 30th is named truth and reconciliation day in Canada.

According to “The Ultimate Birthday Book”, the author, Clare Gibson describes some qualities of people born on this day. Truth and reconciliation are two key words she uses while outlining their other characteristics. Whether true or not, the description relates to what today is about.
